Wi-Fi In The Home
Not every home is the same, at Guardian Angel PC Support we recognize and understand this. We have been to many different shapes and sizes of houses over the years and we have always succeeded in setting up a reliable Wi-Fi network. Over the last several years Wi-Fi technology has changed and improved dramatically. We know what you need to have the Wi-Fi in your home running smoothly using technology from a single extender to full mesh networks.
Wi-Fi boosters can be beneficial and, in an average size home, there is not normally a need for a full mesh network. Although the benefits from a mesh can still be helpful. Single boosters replicate your wifi signal with the ability to push your network a little bit further than normal.
Powerline adapters are another useful tool in that they can convert your network to utilise your power line. The idea behind a power line adapter is that you can use your existing infrastructure to give you an access point on the other side of your house. This can be very helpful but not all adapters work properly and in the correct way.
Powerline adapters with wifi booster incorporate both Wi-Fi boosters and Powerline adapters in a single unit. There are good ones and bad ones available in the market at the moment and are really easy to set up. That is until something goes wrong. These adapters can be used in a similar way to the ones above.
Not only are there lots of different types of equipment but they all work with different types of Wi-Fi protocols over different frequencies. To give you an idea there are 2 different Wi-Fi frequency ranges from 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. With the 2.4 GHz you can use 2.412 GHZ to 2.73. There are several different standards as well – 802.11a – 802.11b – 802.11g – 802.11n -802.11ac. As you can see it starts to get complicated and confusing.
Mesh Wi-Fi For Home
Mesh networks are one of the best ways to paint your house in Wi-Fi. And they normally come packed full of features. The idea is that you can walk from one side of the house to the other and stay on the same network with it never dropping off once.
You can have full control allowing you to prioritize individual devices and also set parental controls with a few simple clicks.
When it comes to choosing the correct network for you we really do know what we are talking about and can quickly assess your needs both physically and digitally. So give us a call and have a free chat.
